Together with the PhD committee, I am involved in organising and advanced statistics course in November and December 2015 at the WSL/SLF, especially targeting PhD students. Many statistics course already exist and we feel that there is an urgent need to offer a course, which does not only target hard core statistics, but also intermediate knowledge, such as tools used for data science. Hence, we organised a course which includes a more general introduction (to data science) and two seperate high-level modules on linear mixed effects models (Module II) and bayesian statistics (Module III). Thank you PhD committee for organising this course, thanks to Philippe Saner from the University of Zurich, to David Libby, to Oliver Jakoby, and Stefanie von Felten for co-organising, and teaching this course.
